Our Mission is to protect the charm and historical character of Ocean Springs for future generations. We advocate for public policies that prioritize the interests of residents, including responsible development and fair taxation. We hold public officials accountable and wish to educate the community on issues that impact the unique identity, livability, and economic success of our city.
We stand for:
Protecting residential and commercial property rights.
We were among the first to point out the egregious actions by the past Mayor and Alderman Board when they passed an Urban Renewal Plan (URP) and formed a Redevelopment Authority (RDA) to use eminent domain to target historically Black owned properties in Ocean Springs. The current Alderman Board disbanded the Urban Renewal Plan and its Redevelopment Authority.
We recommend abandoning outright or restricting use of the Planned Unit Development (PUD) ordinance enacted by the past Mayor and Administration. This ordinance was passed to enable aggressive development and spot zoning within and adjacent established neighborhoods.
Maintaining the non-commercial and family-friendly settings at Front and East Beaches.
We were vocal opponents of the massive Front Beach Marina and Event Center proposed by the last City Administration. This project is no longer being pursued by the new Mayor and Alderman Board.
Ensuring actions by our local government consistent with identified best practices to:
promote economic growth and protect our historic and environmental assets.
emphasize livability by restricting encroachment of short-term rentals into residential neighborhoods, and
by providing reasonable and enforceable noise ordinances like those used by other successful, historic cities.
